The highest peak in Kannur at 1,372 metres (4,500 feet) above sea level, Paithalmala is a hidden gem of the Western Ghats bordering the dense Kodagu (Coorg) forests of Karnataka. The 6 km trek through Shola forests and sweeping alpine grasslands leads to an observatory watchtower with a breathtaking 360-degree view across two states.
